The World’s Top 3 Marine Sanctuaries

These are the best marine reserves around the world that everyone should know!

With climate change affecting the way we live our lives and the environment around us, it is as important as ever to appreciate the sanctuaries we have. There is a range of climate related impacts that affect the ocean such as acidification, storms and rising sea and temperature levels – however, despite these continued challenges, there are many stunning marine reserves around the world that everyone needs to know about.

Cabo Pulmo, Mexico.

With rugged mountains, unspoiled beaches and bright coral reefs, Cabo Pulmo Park is one of Mexico’s beautiful nature reserves. There are opportunities to view the picturesque sea life up close and personal by going scuba diving and snorkelling. This coral reef which is home to an entire ecosystem of marine life is over 20,000-years-old, and is one of the most significant reefs on the Pacific Coast.

Ross Sea, Antarctica.

Like Cabo Pulmo, the Ross Sea in Antarctica is another pristine marine reserve that appears to be lifetimes away from human activity. However, with majestic towering mountains, vast quantities of ice and various penguins, seals and whales frequenting the reserve, Ross Sea is unlike most holiday destinations. If you are looking to travel outside of the ordinary to infrequently visited places, then the Ross Sea will not disappoint.

South Ari Atoll, Maldives.

Situated across the Indian Ocean, the South Ari Atoll in the Maldives is another breath-taking marine sanctuary that captivates anyone who travels there. With luxury accommodation on the water’s edge, there are extremely comfortable opportunities to appreciate the wonders of the Maldives. Spectacular swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling conditions and visibility of up to 40 metres, defines the South Ari Atoll as a water explorer’s dream.
