The biggest event in Australian photography – Head On Photo Festival 2022
.
Photographers and art-crazy folks, it’s all happening!
It’s no secret Australia has a huge number of talented photographers. The reason why that might be is because we have so many beautiful, natural sights and hear-twarming locals to photograph! Although a lot of incredible photography of our landscape and culture might get lost on our Instagram feeds or on our phone camera rolls, there’s one very special event that will be showcasing the awesome work of over 600 spectacular artists.
The highly-anticipated 13th international annual Head On Photo Festival launch takes place on Friday, November 4th this year online and in both public and commercial venues across Sydney.
You can expect to see an abundance of exhibitions, workshops and discussion panels from Australia’s best artists. But it isn’t just the impressive works that make Head On Photo Festival so special, but the fact that it prides itself on advocating for artists of all disciplines and experience levels, at all stages of their careers. All work submitted to Head On Photo Festival and judged for the Head On Photo Awards excludes artist’s names, to ensure that every piece is accepted and nominated based on merit alone.
2021 was a year of incredible talent, check out our favourites:
Kangaroo Court – Raoul Slater:
Slater’s fantastic photo details the attention to symmetry found throughout his work, which he attributes to the ‘Aspergic tendencies’ he’s battled throughout his artistic career. It’s no wonder this photo was adored by audiences with winning votes.
Relief – Fiona Bowring-Greer
Bowring-Greer’s work was also a winner, an impressive insight into light and dark tones. This masterful display of shapes, shades and shadows showcases the many intricacies of the practice of photography.
The Head On Photo Festival launch is an event that simply can’t be missed. So come and see this huge showcase of Australian artists, it’s sure to be a hit.
