Kickstart your day with a stress-free morning routine

As women, we often juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities, making it hard to find the time (and headspace) for self-care. A morning routine that’s customised to our needs can help start the day off on the right foot and set ourselves up for success. Here are some tips for creating a stress-free morning routine that will leave anyone feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Set the alarm 20 minutes earlier

If we want to fit more into our mornings, it’s beneficial to get up earlier. Try setting the alarm 20 minutes earlier than usual and use this extra time as an opportunity to do something calming, like reading or journaling. This extra third of an hour in the morning can be used to focus on what’s important and get your mind ready for the day ahead. It can also help with minimising the feeling of being rushed before the day begins.

Do something active

Whether it’s yoga, stretching, or a short walk around the block, doing something active in the morning is a great way to wake up the body and create a clear head. Exercise releases endorphins which can help reduce stress levels throughout the day. And for those of us who aren’t morning people, don’t worry — you don’t have to do anything strenuous; just 10 minutes of light exercise will make a massive difference.

Eat breakfast mindfully

Eating breakfast mindfully means taking the time to sit down without any distractions (like phones, books or TVs), savour each bite of food, and really appreciate what we’re eating. Even if there’s only five minutes to eat in the morning, take those five minutes to enjoy breakfast instead of scarfing down food while running out the door; it’ll make all the difference in how energised and balanced we feel throughout the day. 

Start your day with small wins

Finally, starting our day off with small wins like setting a goal and completing it in a timely manner or writing down three things that made you happy today is a great part of a new morning routine. Not only will this help motivate us throughout the day but it’ll also remind us of why setting aside some time for ourselves each morning is so important – because taking care of ourself is essential for success!    

Creating a stress-free morning routine doesn’t have to be complicated; it just needs to be tailored specifically for each of us so that it fits into our unique lifestyle and helps set up for success each day.
